City of Baytown Parks and Recreation Department
I accepted an internship with the City of Baytown Parks and Recreation Department. The Parks and Recreation Department has four different areas that it controls: Parks, Recreation, Aquatics, and Environmental Education. Parks is responsible for over 40 parks, as well as general landscaping of the City. Recreation oversees programs, athletics, and facility rentals. Aquatics is in charge of Pirate's Bay Water Park and Calypso Cove. Environmental Education has two facilities in which it hosts a multitude of programs designed for all ages, the Wetlands Center and the Nature Center. As the intern, I got to experience roughly two weeks in each sub-department.
